For the longest time I have been wanting to make a homemade ice cream. When I was at Le Cordon Bleu I was taught how to make it, but it was sort of a process. Since Sophia is here..there…and everywhere within a blink of an eye, quick treats are right up my alley.
This recipe can be found at Some of This and That blog. The author did hers as a galaxy theme. My inspiration was my new Alex and Ani Unicorn bracelet, when I think of Unicorns I think tons of colors! Plus, I thought that Sophia would enjoy all the bright colors!
What you need
2 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream
1-8oz Can Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 Tbsp. Vanilla
Food Coloring (I prefer gel food coloring)
Hand Mixer or Standing Mixer
Casserole dish
Directions
- Whip the Heavy Whipping Cream on medium speed until you get soft..floppy peaks.
- Then add Sweetened Condensed Milk and Vanilla mix it up, until incorporated.
- Separate ice cream into separate bowls and color with food coloring, mix well.
- Combine each color into a casserole dish or a large container and free for at least 6 hours or overnight. Do not over mix the colors.
My Process
Whipping up my Heavy Whipping Cream
A nice floppy peak, it should take not more than 2 to 3 minutes on medium speed…make sure to check it! I can’t stress that enough.
Add your Sweetened Condensed Milk & Vanilla. Grab a spatula and scrap the sides to make sure everything is incorporated.
Here are the colors I chose!
The pink was my base…
I used a kabob stick to swirl all my colors around. Then I used the handle of a spoon as well, but do not over mix.Topped mine with Sprinkles. I also put mine in the freezer for about 7 hours covered in foil.
The finished product! The sprinkles are from Sweetapolita Sprinkle Shop called Carousel.
I am in love!
So much fun!!
What I love most about this ice cream is that it tastes so good and ultra easy to make. You can personalize it to!
This is definitely a keeper, I may try to make some for Sophia’s Birthday Party!
If you were to make it, what colors would you do? Or theme?
Saved as a favorite, I love your site!
